Benefits of using your own hardware
Lower cost is only one of many advantages
Re-use or buy new
- Re-use de-commissioned assets that are still reliable but were retired due to multimedia or other requirements
- It is also cost effective to add a couple units to your next standard server or PC buy from your favorite vendor
- Size the hardware to the load and when the load changes, just swap out the hardware
- Any WarLock configuration will run immediately on different hardware so adding or restoring a production WarLock DR system is a snap
Use your favorite vendor’s products
- Use equipment that you are familiar with; most customers have a preferred vendor such as DELL or IBM and Benefit from your existing support and sparing programs
- On the other hand, if you are re-using older assets, forego service contracts and let them run to failure at which point you can buy new; WarLock DR will pick right up where it left off
Optionally, configure your hardware for redundancy
- Most purpose built appliances do not even have redundant components, and those that do cost a fortune
- You can also configure disk subsystems with mirroring or RAID consistent with the value of the data
- Ideally, your Collector will store data on your existing SAN or NAS
