Selenetix Storage Best Practices

Guidance for integration and deployment

Too often, data storage “solutions” are based on the following assumptions:

  1. the design presumption that customers are now or will be
    capable of “starting over”, and
  2. the business assumption that all needs can be met using
    the same combination of technologies.

To avoid this mindset and to guide both needs analysis and solution development, Selenetix will consider projects as falling into one, or more, of the quadrants shown in the following table. This helps us, and our customers, to do a better job of matching projects with solutions.

Legacy systems can be extended or improved using newer versions of established technologies

Emerging technologies introduce new functionality that was previously unavailable

Integrated solutions are crafted using best of breed components to meet specific requirements

Unified solutions are ideally
suited to adding new sites or capacity or outright replacement

Specifically, some products are well suited to leveraging existing environments without a “forklift upgrade” while others are better suited to new sites or “leapfrog” data requirements.

Selenetix’ job is to ensure an ideal combination of products and procedures in every phase of the data storage lifecycle. We strive to offer our customers sensible alternatives.
