The Plumbers & Pipefitters National Pension Fund (PPNPF) manages over $4.5 billion in pension assets for approximately 300 unions and 200,000 members. Faced with the challenges of significantly increasing data storage needs, they were constantly upgrading, expanding and rebuilding their existing Direct Attached Storage (DAS).
They needed a better storage solution for mission critical financial data.
Selenetix engineers teamed with PPNPF staff to architect and deploy an open standards based Fibre Channel SAN that did not lock them into one vendor’s products. With the old system, they never knew when they would need to upgrade storage arrays; now they can plan for uniform expansion of the centralized storage pool; dramatically simplifying budgeting.
SwapDrive offers simple and secure backup and retrieval services for critical data stored on PCs and servers. SwapDrive needed to reduce their data storage costs and the high licensing fees associated with their current storage vendor.
Selenetix met with SwapDrive, analyzed their configuration and performance requirements and recommended a high performance, low cost sATA drive alternative. The Selenetix solution eliminated the licensing fees charged by their legacy storage solution vendor and met all of their needs cost effectively.
ChallengeDaou Systems provides information technology and service for the health care industry and faced challenges sharing large files between development teams.
Daou System recognized the limitations imposed by their Direct Attached Storage (DAS) approach and was interested in moving to a shared storage model.
Initially, Daou requested quotes for a fibre channel SAN solution from some leading industry vendors, but the costs were well beyond their budget. Selenetix took the time to listen and fully understand Daou System’s challenges and goals and implemented a lower cost iSCSI SAN and tape library solution, achieving all of Daou System’s storage goals.
ChallengeThe Congressional Federal Credit Union (CFCU) proudly serves the Members of Congress, employees of the U.S. House of Representatives, and select employee groups providing a full range of consumer financial products and services. Concerned with increasing spam email and the risk of computer viruses, CFCU turned to Selenetix for help.
We implemented our Warlock network edge security product configured with the mail filtering, anti-virus, and DNS server modules. This enabled the Credit Union to implement enterprise-wide spam filtering, anti-virus scanning, and policy based message attachment handling for the organization. Warlock was also configured to provide the primary and secondary DNS server for the Credit Union.
CFCU has been extremely pleased with the performance and functionality of the Warlock platform and immediately noticed a significant drop in spam email, freeing up valuable network bandwidth for the Credit Union.
ChallengeMedTel International is a premier diagnostic imaging company operating 27 diagnostic facilities across the US and the UK. In support of a new imaging system software application, MedTel needed a high performance tape back up solution.
Listening and understanding MedTel’s requirements and growth plans, Selenetix was able to provide a cost effective, high performance and highly reliable 66 slot, 2 drive tape library system to meet MedTel’s needs.
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) was experiencing high computer virus infection rates and turned to Selenetix for help.
Selenetix met with ADA, analyzed their network edge security needs and configured and implemented the Warlock product to address ADA’s security problems.
Selenetix configured Warlock with the Dual Anti-Virus Scanning and Spam Filter modules. Each email and any attachments are scanned twice by separate anti-virus applications, a double protection against viruses. Warlock’s spam filter was configured with enterprise-wide spam filtering policies which significantly reduced the amount of spam email. ADA is also using Warlock to provide DNS.
We also added some custom options to Warlock for ADA which are now standard features within the product such as the ability to create and automatically include a disclaimer message at the end of every email leaving ADA.
The Warlock solution averages well over 100,000 inbound and outbound emails a day for ADA and they are very pleased with the results.
