Single vendor storage solutions

Most marketplaces give customers the option of integrating individual components or going with a unified solution from a single manufacturer. Data storage is no expection and the larger manufacturers (Storagetec, EMC, IBM, HP) have been providing unified solutions for quite some time; essentially functioning in the role of an integrator. For many customers however, the benefits of this model are substantially diminished by the relatively high cost of acquisition, the extremely high cost for licensing and support, and the long term implications of being “locked in” to a single vendor.

With these considerations in mind, Selenetix has only recently identified and adopted two (2) unified solutions which, in our estimation, strike a reasonable balance between the flexibility and cost benefits of best of breed and the management and support benefits of a unifed solution.

• AMI is a 1 to 6 terabytes dual dialect target for IP-SAN and IP-NAS.
• Compellent offers a modular 4 to 100+ terabyte Fibre Channel and/or iSCSI SAN that competes head on with EMC, HP, and IBM.
• Reldata is the industry’s most powerful dual mode NAS and IP-SAN platform for virtualizing storage resources across gigabit Ethernet.

Selenetix can “stand up” these products very quickly for any combination of users, servers, and storage with complete management. The AMI product line permits access to any combination of file or block based data via the IP network. The Compellent solution implements one of the industry’s most elegant graded storage solutions with integrated virtualization and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM).
